Kyudo: Way of the Bow is an experiential contemplative practice session on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at the Austin Shambhala Meditation Center, exploring Kyudo, the ancient discipline of Zen archery where archery becomes a moving meditation rather than a sport. Guided by Toby Bernal, the practice emphasizes synchronizing body and awareness in the present moment, using the bow and arrow as a mirror of one’s mind rather than focusing on hitting the target. Participants of all levels are welcome to deepen mindfulness, cultivate inner calm, and refine their presence through this traditional art rooted in Japanese contemplative culture. Kyudo invites a unique and peaceful way to connect physical action with mental clarity and heart-centered awareness.
