Orchid Hill Farms

Orchid Hill Farms, operated by Don and Mary Thorp, covers roughly 100 acres near Kerrville dedicated to both livestock production and land conservation. They raise a variety of sheep breeds—including Harlequin and Cheviot crosses—along with goats, ducks, geese, chickens, and Icelandic Sheepdogs. A key focus is fiber production: they process natural-colored fleeces into small-batch yarn bundles, sold directly at fiber festivals and local venues. The farm maintains a balance of productive grazing land and protected native oak habitats. Orchid Hill Farms is active in the fiber community and often participates in regional fleece and fiber events each fall.
