La Escalera Ranch spans over 260,000 acres across West and North Texas, originally established more than a century ago and acquired by the Lyda family in 1992. It is a family-run cattle operation with a nationally respected herd of Black Angus, supported by modern ranching infrastructure including upgraded water systems and irrigated farmland. The ranch is also home to abundant wildlife such as desert mule deer, elk, aoudad sheep, pronghorn, and turkey, making it a destination for conservation and guided hunting. Balancing deep Texas ranching heritage with contemporary land and livestock management, La Escalera remains one of the largest and most influential private ranches in the country.
