Freedom Reins Ranch, located just outside Abilene, TX, in Clyde, is a non-profit mentorship program where children from the surrounding communities can work with a horse alongside a mentor. Founded in 2010 by Mike and Jenny Roetheli, the program is modeled after Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch in Bend, OR. Freedom Reins Ranch believes that horses provide people with a wonderful opportunity to learn about ourselves, others, and our animal friends. Horsemanship can teach many lessons that are applicable in all areas of a person’s life, such as confidence, discipline, kindness, motivation, friendship, management of emotions, following directions, and leadership. The organization serves children ages 7-18 from the surrounding communities and welcomes any child with an interest in horses and a willingness to participate.
