Coates Ranch is a historic family-owned operation breeding registered Hereford cattle and Quarter Horses in West Texas.
Established in 1905 where the Edwards Plateau meets the Permian Basin, Coates Ranch has been raising registered Hereford cattle and Quarter Horses for over a century. The ranch’s cattle trace back to Anxiety 4th bloodlines, and no external females have been introduced for more than 80 years. Selection focuses on structural efficiency, fertility, longevity, udder quality, and disposition suited to the semi-arid range. Coates Ranch also engages in wildlife management and soil conservation efforts consistent with its deep-rooted heritage.
