Austin Nature & Science Center

Since 1960, the Austin Nature & Science Center (ANSC) has offered hands-on nature exhibits, education programs, and recreation for adults, families, and children. Located on the western edge of Zilker Park, the ANSC is dedicated to the exploration and stewardship of the natural world. The center features wildlife exhibits with live Central Texas animals, and a Trade Counter where visitors can exchange natural items for points to redeem for treasures. ANSC offers volunteer opportunities such as Trade Counter, Landscaping, and Wildlife support. The Forest Trail is a self-guided exhibit with native trees, and the center also has a Dino Pit, Naturalist Workshop, Honey Bee Observation Hive, Human Sundial, Pond, and Seed Library. ANSC hosts community volunteer events and temporary public art installations.
