Agri Life Research & Extension

The Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Amarillo serves the Texas High Plains, the state, and the country through initiatives in agriculture, life sciences, and natural resources. It is the administrative office for District 1 of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, encompassing 22 counties of the Texas Panhandle. Signature research programs include beef cattle nutrition and health, wheat breeding and genetics, irrigation water management, and water-limited forages. The research portfolio also includes plant physiology, plant pathology, entomology, soil science, and environmental engineering. AgriLife Extension programs at Amarillo cover various disciplines, providing best practices and applied research solutions. These programs include Animal Science, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Entomology, Family & Community Health, Gerontology, and Plant Pathology.
