Sarah and Margaret grew up taking road trips shaped by their mother’s work as a Texas history teacher. Summers and school breaks meant moving across East Texas, the Hill Country, West Texas, and the Gulf Coast, stopping at historical markers, camping, fishing, and learning how different regions felt underfoot. That early familiarity with place and process shaped how they pay attention, and it continues to inform how they work.

Fraulein focuses on producing cowboy boots that balance classic Western design with everyday wearability. As owners and designers, Sarah & Margaret are fully involved in the lifecycle of the product - from early concepts and hand sketches to leather selection, fit, and long-term durability. Their goal is straightforward: to make boots that feel considered, comfortable, and built to last.

Their collections reference landscapes and environments they know firsthand, with specific designs tied to memory rather than trend. Concepts are sketched by hand, then refined through multiple rounds as colors, leathers, and details are tested and adjusted.

They work with a long-established bootmaker where techniques and craftsmanship are passed down through generations. Leather is chosen for how it wears over time. Soles are meant to be used. Comfort is addressed early so the boots can move easily between settings including ranches, grocery stores, weddings, and city streets.

The name Fraulein comes from an old country song by Bobby Helms, their father’s favorite. The reference is in line with how family history, music, and memory show up throughout the brand.
