Schneider Hall

Nestled on Highway 71 South, just a few miles outside of Columbus, Schneider Hall is an original Texas dance hall that dates back to the 1930s. Operated by the Schneider brothers—Fred, Jim, Willie, and Jake—the hall hosted regular dances and significant town events, including the notable 1939 Farmers League Rally Day, which attracted over 1,000 attendees. After closing its doors in 1942, the hall continued to host events and parties throughout the 1950s before being used for hay storage. In 2009, the Burris family began meticulous renovations to restore the hall for their daughter's wedding reception, ensuring the preservation of its original integrity by using reclaimed wood from other structures. The restoration was completed in May 2010, and now features a large rear deck, standalone restrooms, and modern utilities like water and electricity, while retaining its historic charm. Surrounded by century-old oak trees and conveniently located within two hours of Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, Schneider Hall offers a picturesque and nostalgic setting for a variety of events.
