Leaning Cedar Ranch breeds Dexter and Texon cattle, and Dorper sheep. They are selective and uphold the highest standards of the breed associations. The ranch is located in Washington County, Texas, and is veteran owned and operated. They use best practices in husbandry, as well as proven new technologies in animal health and well-being. They breed and raise the finest cattle and sheep, keep accurate records, and conduct honest negotiations with clients. They practice low stress handling techniques and do not supplement feed with antibiotics, hormones or growth stimulants. They treat sick or injured animals as recommended by their veterinarian and abide by standards set by the Global Animal Partnership for beef cattle and sheep. All cattle are handled using low stress techniques and calves stay with their mothers as long as possible. The ranch will halter-break any animal if desired by the new owner. All cattle are brushed, touched, and in human contact daily. The Dexter herd are tested for all characteristics, including color, polled, and Beta Casein; test results are available upon request. All calves are fully vaccinated, accustomed to feed troughs and water troughs, and are docile, welcoming to visitors, pets and people. Most take hand-feeding readily and accept brushing, pour-ons and handling.
