Founded in 1876 by Charles Goodnight and John G. Adair, JA Ranch is a historic cattle operation located in the Palo Duro Canyon and remains under the stewardship of Adair’s descendants. Recognized as a National Historic Landmark since 1960, it played a significant role in early cattle ranching and marked important milestones in Texas heritage. Today, JA Ranch functions primarily as a cow/calf and yearling operation, blending Angus and Charolais genetics to support both ranching and feeder programs. While preserving its deep historical roots, it continues to run cattle across its rugged landscapes.
