First Flight Farm specializes in breeding, foaling, and working with very young horses. They work with babies from birth to starting them under saddle. They have an excellent show rider Eva Oldenbroek who shows their dressage horses. They rely on their Board Certified Theriogenologist (fertility, reproductive, and neonatal specialist) vet, Dr. Benjamin Espy. Dr. Espy performs all of the breeding & foaling-related procedures and other mare/foal treatments on the client mares. The owner, Tricia Veley, has been fortunate to own horses for over 50 years. The farm was established after searching for a property and finding a property in Boerne, TX. In April 2011, Dr. Ben Espy started to help Tricia Veley. They breed Dutch Warmblood, Oldenburg, Brandenburg, Holsteiner, and Hanoverian horses. They pride themselves in giving mares specialized care and attention they deserve for bringing the next generation of athletes into the world. For client mares, mares with uterine infections and infertility issues they use only Dr. Benjamin Espy, a Board certified Theriogenologist (equine reproduction and infertility specialist) veterinarian, one of only four such specialists in the entire State of Texas. All of the ultrasound scanning and insemination breeding procedures for client mares are performed and invoiced by Dr. Espy. They offer stocks, temporary boarding, and frozen semen storage. Services available include Progesterone & Estrogen injections to synchronize mare cycles, Ultrasounds, Deslorelin injections to coordinate ovulation time, Artificial Insemination (Fresh/Frozen Semen), Embryo Transfers, Frozen Semen Storage, and Broodmare Boarding.
