African Slabs procures and distributes luxury timber directly from sustainable vetted sources. They specialize in large (3ft to 4ft × 18ft) slabs of hardwood from species native to the African continent. Every slab is tracked from its source in order to maintain transparency and industry ethics. They ensure strict environmental ethics and local processing to benefit the immediate communities in timber-producing African countries. African Slabs expressly forbids the harvesting of endangered species and are strictly compliant with international law including the Lacey Act, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (CITES), and guidelines from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). For every slab purchased from them, a portion of the sale will go to reforestation programs in Tanzania. They also offer the purchasing of Carbon Offset Credits with your slab to counterbalance the carbon footprint generated from shipping. Their shipping carbon footprint is also significantly less than other timber companies, as their supply chain is built on a direct source to buyer model. Their business is carefully designed to minimize impact on the environment and maximize financial benefit for local African communities. All of their woods are sustainably sourced, kiln-dried, and finished in the countries of their origins. African Slabs was founded in 2021 by Christopher Plummer, owner, architect, and interior designer of UBORA DESIGN. His mission is to provide quality, luxury African hardwoods through sustainable practices.
